Research Interests:

The research of Lan Yue, PhD, focuses on developing novel approaches to restore sight to the blind and decoding the underlying biological mechanisms. Dr. Yue has worked closely with patients who have received the retinal prostheses Argus I and II to evaluate the safety and efficacy of chronic electrical stimulation of the retina. Dr. Yue is committed to advancing the bioelectronic retinal prosthesis technologies and is concurrently developing minimally invasive alternatives to improve the visual experience of patients who are blind. Dr. Yue’s current effort involves using nano-sized neuro-photoswitches and novel optoelectronic materials in the optical control of the retinal activity as the building blocks of the next generation retinal prosthesis. Dr. Yue is also pursuing translational research in bioelectronics and biophotonics for the treatment of a variety of debilitating neurological diseases such as traumatic brain injury.
