All Laser LASIK is performed in exactly the same manner as conventional LASIK except that the first step utilizes the Intralase laser to fold a thin layer of corneal tissue back. The use of this cutting-edge technology, provides the USC Roski Eye Institute greater flexibility in customizing laser vision correction for each patient.
The Intralase All Laser LASIK Procedure
INTRALASE LASIK Step 1:
The Intralase FS laser focuses a beam of laser light beneath the surface of the cornea to create a thin layer of corneal tissue that is folded back.
INTRALASE LASIK Step 2:
The Excimer laser is used to remove a predetermined amount of corneal tissue to correct for the individual focusing error (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism).
INTRALASE LASIK Step 3:
The corneal layer is replaced in its original position where it heals securely in place.
